Africans Moving Towards Cashless Society.

Wendy Pienaar, head of emerging payments at Standard Bank, estimates that the next ten years could see the rise of online and mobile payments, leading to reduced use of paper and plastic money. While at present only a minuscule percentage of the African continent uses non paper methods of payment, Pienaar feels like starting in 2017 – when mobile usage is set to double – there will be a proliferation of mobile payments.
