Disaster Insurance in Africa

Assia Sidibe of African Risk Capacity discusses risk insurance in Africa. Using the example of Somalia’s drought, which resulted in an almost billion dollar appeal, and Sengal’s 2014 drought which protected by the ARC, she encourages more African countries to take up disaster insurance. Currently 32 countries (including the entire Ecowas region) are signatories to the agreement.
