Mozambique Increases Minimum Wages in Spite of IMF Warning

Despite the IMF’s advice to Mozambique urging it to limit its wage bill as it maneuvers its way through a debt crisis. Labor Minister, Vitoria Diogo announced that wages for public workers were set to rise by 21%, just slightly less than the inflation rate of 21.57%. Falling prices for coal and aluminum, their two biggest exports, have contributed to slower economic growth for Mozambique.
